At Fox Chase Cancer Center, we have an incredible crew of oncology nurses — more than 530 strong. Oncology nurses care for patients through the most intimate and difficult moments of their lives, but they’re also right there to share in patients’ joys. We take pride in all of our nurses and are grateful for their commitment to this organization. PHILADELPHIA (June 14, 2018) — On June 4, 2018, the Fox Chase Immersion Science Program (ISP) hosted a day-long symposium where 236 students from 6 area high schools presented data they spent the school year gathering. The research projects all focused on the effects of different dietary chemicals on fruit flies to identify foods that may interfere with targeted cancer treatments

PHILADELPHIA (June 14, 2018) – The more patients a center treated each year, the higher the patients’ rates of overall survival were. Those who received treatment at a facility that saw 20 similar patients per year had an 18 percent higher chance of surviving to one year after diagnosis than those treated in a facility that saw only five such patients per year. 

PHILADELPHIA (June 12, 2018) — Fox Chase Cancer Center will celebrate the opening of its new outpatient oncology facility in East Norriton, Pennsylvania with a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception on June 15.

PHILADELPHIA (June 5, 2018) – Jennifer Barsky Reese, PhD, assistant professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was selected by the Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH) to join the second cohort of the Putnam Scholars Program.

 In addition to their duties caring for patients, many Fox Chase Cancer Center staff volunteer their time to those most in need. Recently, two nurses and a doctor made a volunteer medical trip to Haiti, where they provided an array of medical services to those in desperate need of care.

PHILADELPHIA (June 4, 2018) – Early stage breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy may find that a text messaging-based intervention helps alleviate some of the dreaded side effects of treatment.

PHILADELPHIA (June 4, 2018) – A new study from Fox Chase Cancer Center shows that liquid biopsy can be a valuable tool in assessing patients’ progress throughout treatment for colorectal cancer. Researchers found that administering the blood test at intervals to search for circulating tumor cells or DNA in conjunction with current diagnostic tests can provide information that will help physicians adjust treatment decisions.
