PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 19, 2014)—Mark A. Hallman, MD, PhD, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Department of Radiation Oncology. He completed his residency in radiation oncology this June at Fox Chase, having served as chief resident.

Dr. Hallman’s primary area of focus is the treatment of patients with thoracic, hematologic, and genitourinary malignancies. He has extensive training in several specialized radiation techniques, including intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and prostate brachytherapy.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 19, 2014)—Sanjay S. Reddy, MD – a surgeon trained in traditional, as well as laparoscopic and robotic techniques – has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Department of Surgery after completing a two-year fellowship at the Center. He specializes in the care of patients with colorectal, liver, pancreatic, stomach cancers, melanoma and sarcomas.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 24, 2014)—New research in mice adds to the growing body of evidence that an inherited mutation can increase the risk of developing cancer after exposure to asbestos – but simply having a genetic predisposition does not appear to be enough to induce the disease.

Study Finds that Some Women Do Better than Current Staging Guidelines Suggest

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 7, 2014)—New findings from Fox Chase Cancer Center paint a relatively optimistic picture of women’s chances of surviving a subset of breast cancers that have spread to the chest wall or skin, but not beyond.

CHICAGO, IL (May 30, 2014)—Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers have carried out the first retrospective analysis of adjuvant chemotherapy’s impact on overall survival in patients with stage III soft tissue sarcomas (STS), adjusted for socioeconomic status and other variables. The findings show that regardless of socioeconomic status and comorbidities, adjuvant chemotherapy improved survival by approximately 23 percent in stage III STS.
