PHILADELPHIA (October 15, 2024) — Fox Chase Cancer Center has been named Philadelphia’s first Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence by the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).

PHILADELPHIA (October 10, 2024) — TREX1, a gene previously associated with autoimmune diseases, has been linked to small cell lung cancer. The discovery by Fox Chase Cancer Center scientists is a step toward understanding why this aggressive cancer is so resistant to treatment.

“We don’t think it’s the same thing,” said Wei, who conducted the study with colleagues from Fox Chase and researchers from other institutions. “The molecular alteration is different, the morphology is different, and the clinical behavior is different. It’s a different tumor.”

PHILADELPHIA (September 30, 2024) — Using CT-guided online adaptive radiation therapy (ART) for patients with liver tumors has proven to be an effective approach, according to findings presented today by Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

PHILADELPHIA (September 30, 2024) — Online adaptive radiation therapy (ART) delivered radiation more effectively than conventional radiation therapy in nearly half of patients, while also helping to decrease radiation dose to the esophagus in a majority of patients with thoracic spine tumors.
