PHILADELPHIA, PA (January 7, 2014)  Fung will serve as Clinical Leader of the Blood Cancers Program and the Hematologic Oncology Service Line, and Professor of Medical Oncology. He will also be Director of the Temple University Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Program.

PHILADELPHIA (January 7, 2014) – Larry R. Kaiser, MD, FACS, Dean of Temple University School of Medicine and President/CEO of Temple University Health System, of which Fox Chase is a part, has been appointed to the Governing Council of the American Hospital Association's Constituency Section for Health Care Systems. Appointed leaders represent premier health systems throughout the country.

PHILADELPHIA (December 12, 2013)—Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center are enrolling newly diagnosed breast cancer patients into a clinical trial of the promising drug reparixin, which targets tumors' ability to self-renew. The study, being presented at the 2013 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, comes on the heels of research done in a Phase Ib pilot trial in which patients with metastatic disease take reparixin along with the chemotherapy drug paclitaxel (brand name Taxol), designed to assess the safety of dosage.

PHILADELPHIA (November 22, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center, the first acute care hospital in Pennsylvania and specialty hospital in the country to receive Magnet designation for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®, has been designated with this prestigious recognition for the fourth time in a row—now making it the first hospital in Pennsylvania to have achieved three successful re-designations.

PHILADELPHIA (November 13, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center is teaming up with Chris Draft, former NFL player and Founder, President and CEO of the Chris Draft Family Foundation, to host “Together Facing Lung Cancer”—a FREE educational event for the community. The event will take place on Saturday, November 16 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the main corridor of the Robert C. Young Pavilion on the Fox Chase Cancer Center campus in northeast Philadelphia (333 Cottman Avenue).

PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 13, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center is partnering with the Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) and Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) on the second annual joint initiative to educate America’s veterans on their individual risk of developing lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths, and the life-saving benefits of early detection using low-dose CT scans.

PHILADELPHIA (November 04, 2013) -  Prior work in the research laboratory of Jean-Pierre Issa, MD, Director of Temple's Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology, showed that the activity of SGI-110 could be directly related to its ability to correct these bookmarks in DNA. Temple is the only local hospital participating in this trial and has enrolled the second-highest number of patients in the country. 

PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 31, 2013)—Steven J. Mattleman, MD, one of the pioneering cardiologists with the Pennsylvania Heart and Vascular–Temple Health practice, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Department of Medicine as director of the Division of Cardiology.
