PHILADELPHIA (March 25, 2013)—The American Association for Cancer Research will inaugurate the first class of the Fellows of the AACR Academy at the AACR Annual Meeting 2013, held in Washington, D.C., April 6-10. Inductees include Beatrice Mintz, PhD, and Alfred G. Knudson Jr., MD, PhD.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 21, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center will be hosting a  one-day, no-cost symposium for high school students to learn about potential careers in medicine, nursing, science, information technology, and business administration. The Health Careers Symposium will take place on Saturday, March 23, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Fox Chase Cancer Center’s main campus (333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia).

FORT WASHINGTON, PA (March 14, 2013)—The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) has issued its first-ever NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) for Survivorship. NCCN Guidelines® Panel Chair Crystal S. Denlinger, MD, Attending Physician and Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology, Fox Chase Cancer Center, was among those who presented the new NCCN Guidelines at the NCCN 18th Annual Conference: Advancing the Standard of Cancer Care™.

PHILADELPHIA (March 1, 2013) - Temple is celebrating the 25-year anniversary of the first bone marrow transplant performed as part of the Temple Bone Marrow Transplant Program. The program's first transplant was performed by its founding Director, Dr. Kenneth F. Mangan, on February 29, 1988. Since then, Temple has performed more than 1,400 transplants

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 27, 2013)—Two proteins that scientists once thought carried out the same functions are actually antagonists of each other, and keeping them in balance is key to preventing diseases such as cancer, according to new findings published in the February 25 issue of Developmental Cell by scientists at Fox Chase Cancer Center. The results suggest that new compounds could fight cancer by targeting the pathways responsible for maintaining the proper balance between the proteins.
