PHILADELPHIA (May 29, 2024) — Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center have documented the first case of rectal myxoid leiomyosarcoma (MLS), a rare cancer typically seen in the female reproductive system. The researchers also found a novel fusion gene that can be used to positively identify the cancer at the molecular level.

Geynisman, MD, Chief of the Division of Genitourinary Medical Oncology and an Associate Professor in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief for JNCCN—Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) is a nonprofit alliance of leading cancer centers devoted to patient care, research, and education.
