PHILADELPHIA (April 17, 2023)—Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant brain tumor in children, and few good treatment options exist. Now researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center have found a promising new approach using a drug that’s already being used to treat hypothyroidism.

PHILADELPHIA (April 14, 2023)—According to the 2022 Cancer Surgery Volume Report from the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4), Fox Chase Cancer Center performed the second highest number of cancer surgeries in the state of Pennsylvania in the last fiscal year.

PHILADELPHIA (April 14, 2023)—The African-Caribbean Cancer Consortium (AC3), a multi-institutional collaborative network that focuses on studies of cancer risk and outcomes among populations of African ancestry, will be recognized with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Team Science Award at the AACR Annual Meeting 2023, to be held April 14-19 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Camille Ragin, PhD, MPH, Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Fox Chase Cancer Center, heads the network.

PHILADELPHIA (April 11, 2023)—Erin Longstreth-Papsun, RN, MSN, OCN, NEA-BC, clinical director of Ambulatory Satellite Clinics and Radiation Oncology Nursing at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was recently awarded the Excellence in Cancer Nursing Management Award by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).

Adding a new twist to a beloved tradition, the Board of Associates of Fox Chase Cancer Center hosted its first-ever special tea this spring to kick off fundraising for Paws for the Cause 2023. The ever-popular dog walk is set to take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023 on the Fox Chase campus, marking its 24th year.

PHILADELPHIA (April 6, 2023)— April is National Donate Life Month, and Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple Health are kicking off the month with a Be The Match virtual event.

PHILADELPHIA (April 3, 2023)—Physicians from Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Temple Head & Neck Institute will offer free screenings for head and neck cancer on Thursday, April 6 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The screenings are open to everyone, take less than 10 minutes, and no appointment is needed. They will take place at Temple University Hospital-Main Campus in Classroom C in the Rock Pavilion Basement.

A nursing mentor and her former protégé—both from Germany—reunited in the United States in mid-March 2023 to discuss the future of the nursing profession and to explore potential collaborations that will help move the profession forward.
