Fox Chase Cancer Center Early Childhood Program Opens to Community

ROCKLEDGE, PA (July 20, 2013)—The Creative Beginnings early childhood program, which has been serving the childcare needs of Fox Chase Cancer Center employees for more than thirty years, is opening enrollment to members of the public. For the first time, community members will have the opportunity to take advantage of the high-quality program, which is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and rated STAR 4 by PA Keystone STARS.

“We strive to provide exceptional early childhood education and are delighted to be able to extend this service to children in our community,” says Kathleen Roberts, director of Creative Beginnings. “I’m eager to welcome new children to our program, which offers a safe, stimulating, and responsive environment for children to grow, learn and play.”

Creative Beginnings provides comprehensive year-round education to children six weeks through six years, with extended care hours between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to accommodate the schedules of working parents. The daycare operates out of two convenient locations: Creative Beginnings North, at 757 Huntingdon Pike in Huntingdon Valley, and Creative Beginnings South, at 121 Huntingdon Pike in Rockledge.

“As a first time mom, I was anxious at the thought of returning to work and leaving my newborn son,” says Jamie Roche, a parent whose infant is enrolled in the program. “It didn’t take long for me to realize that if Joey couldn’t spend his days with me, he truly was in the next best place.”

“The Creative Beginnings teachers are exceptional, caring for my child as if he were part of their own family, and his days are spent exploring, learning, and enjoying great programs while surrounded by friends,” Roche added. “The teachers and staff have contributed immensely to his early development, and I can’t wait to see what new skills he’ll learn next.”

Parents who are not new to the program have similar feelings to Roche’s. Marge Bernesky, who has two children currently enrolled and another who has completed the program, says she looked at other daycare options before choosing Creative Beginnings.

“I can't imagine having them any place else,” she says. “I am confident every day that they are well cared for, learning and socializing with friends.  The teachers are creative in their approach to teaching. They get to know the children and how to work with them—I say this because my youngest can be quite a challenge.”
