Prostate Cancer Patient Stories

After decades of living with Crohn’s disease and two previous bowel surgeries, Bill knew his medical history had to be part of his prostate cancer treatment decision. A second opinion at Fox Chase helped him find an approach that addressed his cancer while taking his individual concerns into account.

Bill Coren has spent much of his life helping young athletes keep moving forward.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, and I played high school basketball at Frankford. In 1981, I started playing basketball for La Salle University.

In the early 2000s I was a real estate agent living and working in Ocean County, New Jersey.

My decades-long career working for companies involved in the healthcare industry took me all over the United States, from the Northeast, to the Midwest, to the South. Years later, so did my cancer treatment, eventually leading me at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

I was treated for prostate cancer in 2016, getting radiation therapy near where I live in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It worked for a while, but not long enough, because in 2022 my PSA level started going up again.
