Every day, people find valuable information at The Resource and Education Center (REC). The REC provides accurate and reliable information to cancer patients and their families, high-risk individuals as well as the staff of Fox Chase Cancer Center. The REC also focuses on facilitating awareness of and referral to other Fox Chase Cancer Center programs and services as well as community services and resources.

Materials found at the REC focus primarily on risk assessment, cancer prevention and screening. In addition, the REC also maintains information on specific cancers, treatments and patient coping techniques. One of the most important features of the REC is a trained cancer education specialist to help you find the information you need and guide you through the many resources available.

Resources include:

• Internet access with highlighted, reviewed websites
• A trained Cancer Education Specialist to assist visitors
• DVD/CD-ROM collection, including interactive computer programs
• Audio and Video cassette collections
• Brochures, fact sheets, and newsletters covering a variety of health- and cancer-related topics
• Health and cancer-related textbooks
• Community resources
• Information about other Fox Chase Cancer Center services and programs, including
  • High Risk Programs,
  • Social Services,
  • Cancer Information Service, and the
  • Patient and Family Resource Center in the Hospital

All materials and services are provided free of charge to REC visitors.

Patients and their families, as well as Fox Chase staff, are welcome to make the most of the REC resources in order to better understand prevention, risks and treatment of cancer.
