Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Christopher G. Cann, MD, as an assistant professor in the Department of Hematology/Oncology with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers.

PHILADELPHIA (August 15, 2023)—Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Christopher G. Cann, MD, as an assistant professor in the Department of Hematology/Oncology with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers.

Cann earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He then earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Cann then went on to complete an internal medicine residency and a hematology/oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During his years at Vanderbilt, he regularly instructed undergraduates, medical students, residents, and fellows in the classroom and through observation and shadowing programs.

Over the course of his career, Cann has engaged in high-level research, including involvement in clinical trials and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. In 2022, his research was recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) with the Conquer Cancer Merit Award. In addition to belonging to ASCO, Cann is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Hematology.

Cann began his tenure at Fox Chase on August 7.
