Cihangir Duy Receives Grant to Investigate the Effect of LSD1 Inhibitors on ‘Dormant’ Leukemia Cells

PHILADELPHIA (November 9, 2021)—Cihangir Duy, PhD, MS, an assistant professor in the Cancer Signaling and Epigenetics Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been awarded a one-year $100,000 Hollis Brownstein Research Grant from The Leukemia Research Foundation. The grant will fund research into how certain acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells can reactivate following chemotherapy, thus causing disease relapse.

Study Finds Low Risk of Toxicity in Prostate Cancer Patients Treated With Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy

PHILADELPHIA (October 25, 2021)—A multi-institutional retrospective analysis conducted by researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center has found that early stage prostate cancer patients treated with moderately hypofractionated intensity-modulated radiation therapy or proton beam radiation therapy had low risk of serious late genitourinary and gastrointestinal complications.

Fox Chase Researchers Find Pulsed Low-Dose Rate Radiotherapy Shows Improvement Over Standard Twice-Daily Radiation

PHILADELPHIA (October 24, 2021)—In a recent retrospective study, researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center found anorectal cancer patients reirradiated with pulsed low-dose-rate radiotherapy had reduced toxicity and improved outcomes when compared with patients treated with twice-daily radiotherapy.
