Diane Nyland’s Gift of Life Insurance Policy Supports Fox Chase

In making her gift to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Diane Nyland explains, “There is a sense of security knowing that your loved one is being treated and cared for by physicians and nurses who are talented, compassionate, and knowledgeable.” She adds that she truly appreciates the Fox Chase motto: “Cancer is all we do, all day, every day.”

Diane’s gift in the form of a life insurance policy will be paid to Fox Chase upon her death. The gift honors the memory of her husband of 58 years, David Nyland, who passed away in 2001.

The Nyland couple experienced an extraordinary life together. Diane had been recruited to join the CIA in Washington, DC, with top secret clearance. David, a U.S. Navy deep sea diver and executive officer at Ft. Mifflin, was in charge of operations to remove live ammunition on and off the ships at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. With top secret clearance, he was part of a Special Forces team designated to disarm an atomic bomb. In 1962, he and Diane founded White Engineering Surfaces Corporation, a world leader in surface engineering technologies. She remarks that David was “always a loved and respected person,” who put God first in his life followed by love of family, friends and country.

Diane’s legacy gift will help advance the Center’s mission of pioneering cancer prevention research. “Fox Chase is and always will be a place of hope,” she says with pride.
