WHAT YOU NEED TO SUBMIT
To apply to the next session of TRIP Initiative, complete the online application by following this link: http://bit.ly/2Qqf1OF. (It is recommended to download and complete the essay portion of the application in a word processing program and then copy/paste your answers into the online application. The essay questions can be downloaded by clicking on button at the bottom of this page.) In addition to completing the online application, applicants must have three letters of recommendation (LOR) and a school transcript submitted on their behalf. These documents can be submitted directly by the letter writers by following this link: https://goo.gl/forms/rL6pblatf2EG3fft2. Note: LORs and transcript should be sent directly by the letter writers NOT by the student. If your writers have trouble submitting documents through the online form, documents may instead be sent to Dr. Amanda Purdy at [email protected] before 11:59 pm on Monday, January 28, 2019.
One letter of recommendation should come from your science teacher (e.g. biology, chemistry, physics, etc.), while others can come from, but are not limited to, the following individuals: High school administrator (Assistant Principal, Principal, etc.), high school teacher (math, history, English, art, etc.), coach, counselor, minister or clergyman from your place of worship, and supervisor from a current/previous job, club or volunteer position.
Letters should: 1) state the length and capacity that the recommender has known the applicant, and 2) contain an assessment of the applicant’s strengths and weakness with specific examples that support participation in the TRIP program. If applicable, letters should be written on official school letterhead.
***When requesting a letter of recommendation, be sure to give the writer a copy of the above information and a minimum of three weeks to complete your letter.***
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of program staff and alumni in early March 2019. Following review, qualifying applicants will interview with program staff in mid-to-late March 2019 with final decisions made by April 15, 2019.
