The Career Series for Summer Students at Fox Chase Cancer Center will kick off on Friday, July 20, in the Prevention Pavilion 4031 with the first of three sessions. In the season's inaugural talk, Graduate Student Simon Kelow, and Assistant Research Scientist Margret Einarson, Ph.D., will discuss their work and training at the Cancer Center.

This annual series is aimed at educating high school and undergraduate students who are spending their summer at Fox Chase about many of the career paths employed here at the Center. Each session will feature two speakers, who will talk about their careers and touch on what skills are necessary to be successful in their fields from medical oncology to genetic counseling, postdoctoral research, and more.

Simon Kelow

Simon Kelow, Graduate Student

Simon Kelow's research combines physics, math, chemistry, biology, and computer programming to describe how proteins move and function in the human body. In his spare time he teaches high school student through journal club with the Upward Bound program, and helps teach elementary school students basic science through Science Education Academy. Simon is currently a PhD graduate student in Dr. Roland Dunbrack’s lab.

Margaret Einarson

Margret Einarson, PhD, Assistant Research Professor

Margret specializes in the use of high throughput technology to help researchers get the most data points from every sample. In addition to her role as Manager of the High Throughput Screen Facility at Fox Chase Cancer, Margret is also a Co-Director for the Temple Graduate Seminar Course, and a lecturer at Drexel University in the courses Advanced Cancer Biology, and Experimental Approaches.
