Treatment Focus

Genetic counseling and testing for hereditary cancer risk

Treatment Philosophy

I pursued a degree in genetic counseling after working in the medical and research fields and seeing a need for a genetics “translator.” I recognize that, for many people, learning about genetic information is like learning a new language. Without a person to take the time and effort to educate and inform them, these patients lose the ability to control their own health destiny. I found myself drawn to cancer genetics because it is a realm full of myths and misconceptions, but where genetics can provide patients with knowledge and power about cancer risks, not only for themselves, but their family. And with that knowledge, they can make truly informed decisions about their medical care that will hopefully lead to the best possible outcomes.

In addition to my genetic counseling efforts at Fox Chase, I am an adjunct professor for Arcadia University’s Genetic Counseling Master of Science program. I teach a semester-long course on cancer genetics and supervise genetic counseling interns during their clinical rotations at Fox Chase.
