Research Interests
Breast Cancer Research ProgramAfter two years at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida, I decided to return to my native Philadelphia. I joined the staff at Fox Chase in 2004 because I wanted to work for a premier cancer hospital. At Fox Chase, we work closely with each discipline, including radiation and surgical oncology. This allows us to tailor treatment to best serve the needs of each patient.
One of the reasons I entered the field of oncology is to be involved in research. It is an area where we learn more effective treatment options, resulting in improved outcomes for our patients. Research also allows me to use my creativity, while at the same time keeps me up to date on the latest advances in breast cancer research and treatment. It is my goal to be an expert in breast cancer so that I can better treat my patients.
In addition to my clinical expertise, I am dedicated to breast cancer research. I have presented study results at a number of national conferences, including the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). At this year's ASCO meeting I reported on a study which demonstrated that a small molecule inhibitor shows promise in trastuzumab-resistant metastatic breast cancer.
Providing compassionate care is very important to me. As a woman, I am able to connect with my patients. At Fox Chase, we are dedicated to treating the whole person, not just the cancer.
