Mala T Kailasam, MD, MPH

I joined Fox Chase in 2008 with more than 6 years of combined experience as an office based Internist and as a hospitalist in a community hospital. As a hospitalist, I focus on the medical issues of all acutely ill hospitalized patients, including surgical and oncology patients. In particular, managing pre-existing or new medical conditions that are associated with cancer or its treatment is important for a better chance of successful outcomes in acutely ill patients. This involves dedication to coordinating the complete care of inpatients and ensuring a seamless transition into and out of the hospital. As the attending physician of a medical team, my priority is to deliver the highest quality of medical care to hospitalized patients. I strongly believe in practicing empathetic medicine alongside with evidence-based scientific medicine.
I am thrilled that Fox Chase Cancer Center is joining a growing number of hospitals across the nation that recognize the values and strengths of the hospitalist for inpatient care. As an inpatient specialist, I hope to promote the goal of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s multi specialty approach to the care of cancer patients. Additionally, I hope to join the team of physician scientists in Fox Chase involved in clinical and epidemiological research related to cancer.
