New Fox Chase Attending Physician Focuses on Leukemia and Lymphoma
Adam Cohen, MD
PHILADELPHIA (September, 2008) — Adam Cohen, MD, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center's medical oncology staff as an attending physician. He treats patients with cancers of the blood and bone marrow such as leukemia and lymphoma.
Cohen has a special interest in the cancer called multiple myeloma and a rare related disorder called amyloidosis, which occurs when bone marrow produces too much of certain antibody proteins that then build up in the bloodstream and may affect various organs.
"My goal is to develop new therapies for these complicated diseases, with a focus on trying to harness the power of the immune system to attack and hopefully eliminate cancerous cells," Cohen says.
A board-certified medical oncologist, Cohen earned his MD at the University of Pennsylvania. He comes to Fox Chase from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he completed a fellowship in 2005.
