Hoeffel Pays Tribute to Fox Chase Cancer Center
PHILADELPHIA (May 25, 2004) -- U.S. Representative Joseph M. Hoeffel (D) of Pennsylvania presented R. Donald Leedy, chief operating officer at Fox Chase Cancer Center, with a framed Congressional Citation in honor of Fox Chase Cancer Center's centennial.
The Citation is a record of Cong. Hoeffel's remarks about Fox Chase made from the floor of the House of Representatives in February. In his remarks, Hoeffel honored Fox Chase "for its 100 years of outstanding effort and achievement in the fields of cancer treatment and research."
"Founded on a spirit of optimism and determination, the center remains a national leader in cancer care," declared Hoeffel. "I congratulate the Fox Chase Cancer Center on its 100 years of dedicated service to the community."

Fox Chase Cancer Center was founded in 1904 in Philadelphia, Pa. as the nation's first cancer hospital. In 1974, Fox Chase became one of the first institutions the National Cancer Institute designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center.
