Women Smokers Needed for Lung Cancer Early Detection Study
PHILADELPHIA (July 12, 2000) -- If you are a female smoker or former smoker and you meet the criteria below, you may qualify to enroll in an early detection study. The program includes a medical examination, blood and sputum tests, chest x-ray, low dose chest CT scan, and an examination of the lung airways. If caught early, lung cancer survival and cure rates are greatly improved.To participate you must be a woman at least 25 years old with a significant smoking history, must be a current or recent smoker, must not be pregnant or breast feeding, and must not have received radiation therapy to the chest area or had chemotherapy within the past six months.
