Fox Chase Cancer Center Offers Free Information Session for Women Interested in New Breast Cancer Prevention Study
PHILADELPHIA (June 30, 1999) -- Fox Chase Cancer Center is offering a free information session about the new breast cancer prevention trial called STAR. The session will be held Tuesday, July 13 at 6:30pm in room C at Fox Chase Cancer Center, 7701 Burholme Avenue, Philadelphia. The STAR trial will compare the drugs tamoxifen and raloxifene. Tamoxifen is already proven effective in reducing the incidences of breast cancer in high-risk women. Raloxifene may be as good or better in lowering the risk of the disease in some women.
The STAR trial is open and currently recruiting participants. Only postmenopausal women at increased risk of developing breast cancer are eligible for the study.
