Build a Premier Cancer Program for Your Hospital

Is your institution able to meet the needs of today's and tomorrow's cancer patients, ranging from state-the-art treatment modalities and technologies to the supportive care patients require and expect?

For the first time, cancer has surpassed heart disease as the leading cause of death for Americans, according to a January 2005 report by the American Cancer Society. The increase represents the growing age of our population, since cancer is largely a disease of aging. However, despite rising incidence, death rates for major cancers such as breast, prostate and colorectal cancer are declining, thanks to earlier detection with screening technology and improved treatments.

Fox Chase Cancer Center Consultants, a subsidiary of Fox Chase Cancer Center, can help you create, promote and maintain a comprehensive cancer program to fill your service area's growing demand for cancer care.

Who We Are

Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia is a leading comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute in 1974.

Fox Chase Cancer Center Consultants, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fox Chase Cancer Center, consisting of members of the Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners Program, was established to make the experience of the Fox Chase team more widely available. The Partners team includes oncologists, business strategists, clinical project managers, clinical research specialists, data analysts and marketing specialists.

Program Planning Process

An assessment program-planning document will be prepared to serve as a planning and implementation tool for the cancer program's development over a 2 - 3 year period. The process includes an in-depth analysis of your current cancer program services with recommended enhancements and development of goals, strategy and timelines. The assessment will be based on the experience of Fox Chase Cancer Center Consultants and the information provided by the client through interviews with management and key personnel as well as data requests.

Clients may purchase the package in its entirety or as individual components, including the following.

Accreditation Application

Almost 30 percent of U.S. hospital cancer programs are accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. Fox Chase Cancer Center Consultants can support your cancer program's application for accreditation or re-accreditation by the Commission on Cancer. We support this effort by conducting mock program audits to measure your service components against the established standards. We can also support accreditation applications for other organizations, such as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Feasibility Studies and Financial Projections

Fox Chase staff will prepare complete financial projections for the required infrastructure to establish the program. The projections will be based on the experience of Fox Chase Cancer Center Consultants as well as information provided by the client. The feasibility study may also include the budget preparation for a research infrastructure and the review of all managed-care contracts for provision of oncology services.
