Therapists Barbara Ebersole, MA, CCC, SLP,
and Katie Moran, MS, CCC-SLP
Our Speech Pathology Department offers advanced diagnostic and therapeutic interventions related to vocal pathologies, voice rehabilitation, oral motor and speech dysfunctions, trismus (reduced mouth opening) and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), performed by Speech Pathologists with specialized training in head and neck cancer rehabilitation.
Barbara Ebersole, MA, CCC-SLP
Barbara Ebersole, MA, CCC-SLP, is a licensed Speech Pathologist, certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association who has specialized in the area of adult voice and swallowing disorders, particularly those associated with head and neck cancer rehabilitation since 2004. Special skills include: Video Fluoroscopic Swallowing Studies, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallowing (FEES), Digital Video Stroboscopic Examinations, Certified Vital Stim provider, Tracheo-Esophageal Puncture (TEP) management, and electrolarynx and/or esophageal speech training. She is an advisor to “The SpeakEazy Club of Delaware Valley” and the Head and Neck Cancer support group at Fox Chase. She is interested in identifying new or better ways to treat dysphagia and dysphonia in order to maximize functional outcomes and quality of life following cancer treatment. She participates in collaborative research with the Head and Neck Cancer Team, Surgical Oncology Department, and the Department of Behavioral Health at Fox Chase. Most recently, she co-authored an educational CD-ROM on voice restoration following total laryngectomy through Blue Tree Publishing.
Katie Moran, MS, CCC-SLP
Kathleen Moran is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist, certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). She is a member of ASHA’s Special Interest Division 13 (swallowing and swallowing disorders).She graduated with a Masters of Science from La Salle University in 2007. She now specializes in head and neck cancer rehabilitation and speech, oral motor and swallowing disorders. She works with an inpatient and outpatient adult population. Special skills include video fluoroscopic swallow studies, tracheo-esophageal puncture (TEP) management, electrolarynx training, myofascial release in the setting of chronic trismus and dysphagia, and pre-operative/pre-treatment counseling. She is an advisor to the “The SpeakEazy Club of Delaware Valley” and “The Head and Neck Cancer Support Group” at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
